Signs of a concussion might not show up right away

The violent impact of a car wreck can mean that your body has damage that you might not expect. These injuries might not show up at the scene of the accident. In fact, some like a concussion might take days or even weeks to become recognizable. You must watch for signs of this type of injury.

Many people associate a concussion with loss of consciousness; however, most people who suffer one never have that happen. It is possible to have a concussion without even realizing it. Some people do have symptoms that they can relay to their doctor that might result in a concussion diagnosis.

Some of the more common signs of a concussion include:

  • Persistent headache or pressure in the head
  • Feeling confused or dazed
  • Not remembering the car accident
  • Vomiting or nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Slurred speech
  • Fatigue
  • Ringing in the ears

If you do have a concussion, you might be told that you need to allow your brain to rest. This means that you are going to have to avoid doing as much as possible. You might not even be able to work an entire shift at work. Reading a book, watching television or playing online might be severely limited.

For the most part, people who have concussions won’t need to have invasive treatments. Unfortunately, the symptoms of this injury can persist for months after the incident, so you might continue to get headaches or other symptoms when you’ve done too much.

With the limitations that you will have due to the concussion, you might not be able to earn a living or enjoy life. You might choose to seek compensation from the party that caused the crash.
