The Firm. As a sole practitioner, Waldo C. Ging founded the firm in 1918. Ging continued to practice on his own for more than 30 years when he was joined by the now retired Stephen A. Free, and then the late James L. Brand (1938 -1996) in 1965. In our 80 years of continuous operation we have expanded from a local firm serving the needs of a rural community to a regional firm, with three offices in central Indiana, handling matters throughout the State of Indiana. Our firm prides itself on its ability to provide a broad spectrum of high caliber legal services rarely found outside of major cities.
The Building. The building, which stands at Five Courthouse Plaza, was once known as 17 East South Street before the street was closed and Courthouse Plaza was constructed in 1984. It was built in approximately 1880 and used as the residence of Frederick Glidden. In 1899 the building was transferred to David Goble and it remained in his family until 1921 when it was purchased by Dr. Joseph L. Allen who used the building for both his residence and medical office. In 1957 attorneys Waldo C. Ging and Stephen A. Free purchased the building, and it has been used continuously as a law office since that date. |
